Preach it, Dominic! ;) Your description of "survival writing" especially resonates with me. Writing is so very hard, but also worth it. I don't know yet how to do the writing and the marketing/managing/promoting all at the same time. (At least not without losing my mind.) But Legend Fiction has helped me to get my first book, AVALON LOST, out into the world, and I'll always be so grateful for that! And nothing's going to stop me from writing the sequel, either.

To all my fellow authors out there: Just keep writing! :)

Thanks for the encouragement. I wrote and self published a middle grade science fiction book years ago and I tried to embed some faith into it. Looking back I see the effort was good, but not the outcome. You’ve given me some energy to get back into the work and see how I can use the tools to smooth out the rough edges and also to be more confident I how I layer in faith and moral elements into my work.

This is great and all. But. Considering AI is, considering its essential nature, theft of other's intellectual property. It would be prudent to note HOW exactly to use it. From what I can tell, I would say: as long as it is used for brainstorming purposes ONLY and that nothing generated by AI ends up in the final product.

Otherwise, yes I agree. I just laugh and toss what people say of me out the window. If they don't like my story, sounds like their problem.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I stand by what I said unless proven otherwise.

I just think AI is a morally ambiguous tool, and the only reason I don't use it is because I need to be COMPLETELY CLEAR on the moral implications of my actions before I act upon something.

i like your take on it :) yes, it is true that good action is always in the how. Artists are like training models too, that learn from everything without needing to credit.

I'm not convinced that AI is theft, despite the hype on that.

Very nice. One thing about technology I want to help people understand and apply in their lives, is to remember that technology rightly ordered is an extension of the man. This means it can't replace the man, but it also means we can't reach as far without it.

The spear, the wheel, the plow—we think of these as simple now, but in the dawn of humanity they put us a mile above the beasts. The forge, the windmill, the horsedrawn buggy—the Amish (for one) aren't "technology averse," they just stopped at a past century's "cutting edge."

GenAI is grossly misused, but it's not evil. Just as stone and wood are not evil. It's only when someone puts the creation in the place of the creator that idolotry occurs.

And asking it to look for grammatical errors (for one) is not putting it in the place of the creator.

Gotta agree. I've written 10 books, all on Amazon, My last one is pretty good, I've got a bunch of 5 star reviews, but I can't do the website, the ads, the bookstore reads. the marketing. I did make an audiobook with Virtual Voice, which I suppose is using AI as you suggest.

Write more posts like this. Give us more suggestions on how to use AI, since it's doubtless here to stay. (Strangely enough, one of my characters is an AI who runs a starship-- written without the use of AI)

Wow, that's a track record there :) Amazing. I don't know how you're making it all work! I'd love to know. What was your experience using Virtual Voice? I've not tested that yet.

I plan to write more! DM me your questions any time. Have you played with Chat at all to make it work for you?

I like Virtual Voice, though it's not perfect. I'm required not to disclose details about it, so won't. But it's close enough to a human narrator for me.

I haven't used Chat.
