Calling Authors: Want to host an online author meetup and promote your book?

If you're an author with a book coming out, or recently published, we want to collaborate with you!

LegendFiction is about to announce a new season: ‘There Be Dragons,’ and we’re looking for authors to help host online writing retreats and author meet ups.

Together, we can promote your work, and LegendFiction's awesome vision to help legends write!

Who can host events?

Any Christ-centered, faith-inspired author, who is working on a novel, or a writing project. Your novel can be self-published, traditionally published, or any other option! You can be a first-timer, or a veteran.

Note: LegendFiction is primarily for Catholic and Orthodox authors. We welcome anyone who wants to join us, as long as they understand our community focus.

Hosting an event is easy - you don’t need to be a certified writing professional! These are not workshops, and you are not expected to give expert critiques.

In fact, we recommend zero critiques! LegendFiction encourages positive feedback, and zero negative feedback. This helps our legends level up faster through praise.

6 types of events you can host

Here are the recommended 4 types of events you can host - without needing to be a certified writing professional!

🚀 Speed Meetings: Use Google Meet breakout rooms to pair people up for 5 mins at a time, 45 min event. These events are public and free for all. You will open the event, explains how it works, and then press the button to automatically, randomly assign people together!

📝 Story Readalouds: If less than 10 attendees, read aloud your latest WIP for 5 mins, and group discuss. More than 10, and you can randomly create breakout rooms for clusters of 4 people. Each  breakout room designates 1 leader to present the top advice from each group. Everyone comes together at the end to share insights and ideas.

☕Legend Writing Retreats: Schedule 4-6 hours for an online get-together, and write in silence. Check in every 2 hours to say hi and share updates. Optionally end with a group Retreat Readaloud to share a writing part most proud of! 

👋Author Meetups: Simple get-togethers where authors come with coffee, tea, or something stronger, to hang out and get to know each other! Meetups can be themed, or open mic. Invite authors to share their questions and insights.

👤Character Convos: A get-together to help authors brainstorm and talk about character building. Members should bring their questions and problems about any character in their story, and invite feedback and ideas from the group. Get unexpected or surprising ideas to deepen your character!

📖Reading Retreats: Join a group of other readers on a warm, welcoming call, and bring any book you like. Hunker down with something cosy, check in, and then dive into reading. Connect up at the 10 minute checkins to see how others are doing, and share anything you want about your current read. A retreat can be themed around a book, or a free-for-all.
